15-25 सेमी लंबाई में कलम को चाकू की सहायता से कलियों के जोड़े के ठीक ऊपर से 2.5 सेमी नीचे की ओर काटें। एक प्लास्टिक में रखें और ग्राफ्ट करने के लिए तैयार होने तक फ्रिज में रखें। स्टॉक के शीर्ष के पास से शुरू करते हुए पहले कट के आंतरिक बिंदु से मिलने के लिए थोड़ा अंदर की ओर ढलान वाला कट बनाएं। लकड़ी का चांदी का हिस्सा हटा दें। अंत में नीचे पहले कट से चाकू से सीधे ऊपर की ओर टुकड़ा करके स्टॉक को काटें। यह स्टॉक के एक तरफ एक सपाट कट छोड़ देता है। अब कलम तैयार करें: आधार तक 2.5 सेमी लंबा उथला, ढलान वाला कट बनाएं; फिर विपरीत दिशा में आधार पर एक छोटा, कोण वाला कट बनाएं। कलम को रूटस्टॉक में कट में फिट करें
